10-2-2010 3:30pm I am in the truck and on my way to the North side of LL property. I am using the Muddy CLimbing Harness, the Gamohunter Ambush Saddle Prototype, the muddy Ambush platform prototype and muddy climbing sticks.
After a 15 minute drive I am at my parking area, I walk in about 250 yards and find a nice 8" tree and start climbing with my climbing sticks. The great thing about this set-up is I don't have to climb down once I start up the tree.
I am completely settled into the tree about 4:45pm at 5:15pm I see movement northwest of me. There are three does in the bottom of the ditch aout 45 yards away. I put the tree between myself and the does. The does keep working their way up. Now I am about 30ft up as 7 muddy sticks easily get me up that high with little effort. One thing I need is a bag for these to keep them from hanging up on anything, I am thinking a soft compound bow bag modified might work.
Anyway, I wait for the first doe to work her way past me. As she comes around behind me I move around the tree. Another doe works her way up and I take aim she is about 25 yards away, I let the arrow fly, but she turns quickly and the arrow goes in far back but exits not where I would like it too. then the next doe comes around to the north of my position, I shoot her, and I hit the spine, I put another arrow into her.
Then a third doe comes up to the south of my position, I move around the tree and shoot an arrow, I hit an unseen sappling and the arrow explodes. I quickly reload and shoot he, but it hits high. She runs away and goes about 400 yards, I think she crashed but was not for sure.
I get down after a 1/2 hour and go and look at the two lumenok arrows and see that they are covered in green gunk, and hair not a good sign.
I looked for over 2 hours for either doe, and could only find a couple specs of blood. I will come back in the morning and try to get a better look.
I field dresss my doe and get her in the truck.
FFWD - Sunday morning, 3 hours of looking cannot find either one of the does, the cover is just too thick.
