October 6th, 2019:
Well let me add to this story. I tried for the first time hunting out of a portable tripod... I have to say I am kind of hooked... yesterday my son drew and I scouted one of my properties.
We saw a very mature doe with 3 yearlings about 730pm so I knew that I could get a chance on them if I got in the stand early enough.
I got into the field about 230 it took me about 1 hour to setup including an interruption by some kids in bicycles coming out to bug me. LOL
I knew that I would have to wait and I did... the doe in the picture stepped out from the east at 620pm and I shot her at 625.
I was using 3 fawn decoys set at 50 yards north west of my stand it worked like clockwork.
The doe stopped about 40 yards from the decoys giving me a 6 yard shot. She was quartering away. I releases and watched thepass-thru and she took off back to the east I heard her crash in the woods.
I lowered down my gear and headed in. She literally went 35 yards and died. Well as it was starting to get dark I cleaned up and loaded my gear.
I had to go to the fire station to check my deer in.
My sniper tripod worked great. I was able to drive in and setup the stand.
It felt good after several years of bad health keeping me out of the woods.
