Sat October 31st 2009 600am I got up kind of late. I have been battling a cold, but I can be sick at home or sick in a tree I found two tarsals from my buck last year so I thawed them out and set them on the back of my decoy. This morning I put out a buck decoy. 725am I start a rattling sequence qith my rattle bag for about 3minutes. I hit my bow grunter a few times and wait.
745am I hear movement come out of the bottom a young buck a perfect 8 pointer comes up from behind the pond. Hes perfect but not mature enough to shoot I have the decoy set up so it is about 23 yards north east of my stand and the wind is a light breeze from the south. The 8 pointer is about the same size as the decoy maybe a little bigger the set up is perfect I could killed the buck 4 times he tries to circle around but he cant get the scent of me or the decohy I am also using some smoking sticks and I made a dispenser out of some PVC parts. The buck finally looses interest and walks off, but not without blowing a couple snorts towards the decoy. This buck was maybe 115 and he might of been 2yrs old.
845am a small 10 pointer checks out the decoy from the east side of the pond bank. wind 9mph shifting west. But doesn’t commit. This decoy may be a bit much for these smaller bucks I think I am going to attach a set small forkhorn antlers to my Flambeau decoy and fill the head with foam or try to find some small platsic antlers I really just need a small spike decoy.October 31, 2009 Afternoon Hunt – I went out this morning, but saw zero deer, however I have checked my trail camera, check out I was pinned down by 3 does after dark.

Here are some Trail Camera Videos from the camera I put out yesterday. This is just on a travel pathway about 10 yards off a scrape. And about 70 yards from my stand.

10-30-2009

10-30-2009 LLSWP 4 does 2 Bucks 7:30AM I have had awesome encounters this morning but it is 25 mile an hour winds I have been playing cat and mouse with two Pope and young whitetails since 8:30 they stay hung up about 60yards out. I am going to sit in this stand all day if I have to. One is s big lopsided nine pointer the other is an big 10 pointer. They loose interest then they come back I rattle then I grunt and snort wheeze I just need them to commit. I am on a tight funnel. This morning I was in the stand a full 2 hours before sunrise and The first buck was under my stand for 20 minutes but it was too dark to shoot. I saw a couple of does and then because the wind was blowing so hard KI was going to climb down and go home but low and behold I look to the south there is a big buck 60 yards away. I kept working him but with the 27 mile an hour winds he just would not commit, About 30 minutes later a different buck comes out of the ditch same thing no visual would not commit. All in all its been a good hunt I am going to build a mock scrape and hang a code blue drop time and put up two cameras as well so I can check them tomorrow to see whats in the woods.

October 17th, 2009

October 17th, 2009: SD Property, Wapello County 4:00am the alarm goes off. I head to this property and decide to use my climbing stand because of the 7 mile per hour wind I am able to get a lot higher up. about 35 feet to the bottom of my feet.

This doe came out on the 4 wheeler trail about 7:00am and I hot her at 6 yards.
I tried hunting with out my cameras, and thought I could substitute the Epic Stealh Cams, I have to say that so far the two Epic Stealthcams I have purchased have been pretty much useless. Their light gathering capabilities is pretty much the same as a cardboard pin-hole camera. The idea is sound the technology is not. So for a bowhunter these deer were out at 7am and I couldn't make out the deer in the video. Back to the drawing board for a more portable solution to videoing bowhunts.
